Learning Reflection Write-up
Like in any other projects, research was the first thing to do in this one. It paved the way into understanding the area we need to tackle and improve on. From there we were able to form ideas which we materialized into our sketches. These sketches then turned into low and high fidelity prototypes which we had reiterated a couple times until we reached the final output.
We could say that analytic skills are most essential to this project as we have to learn and observe our target users as to what design would best fit the project for them. A keen eye to the design was also useful in deciding what colors and elements look best and effective. As this project is focused on creatives as users, it was quite interesting that though they specialize in different areas, creatives meet at a certain point regarding design and its principles. Such insight was impactful in the conception of the project. It was also taken into consideration that this app is supposed to give a leisure experience to the users, who most probably tire their eyes the most for work, that we simplified some elements in our iterations. The challenge was probably making the application simple without sacrificing it’s visual design, which we achieved through a few more research and testing. With this application, thinking of a subject won’t be such a hassle anymore to our user. They’ll now have more time to practice, socialize, or do anything they want.

Problem Overview
Talent is not an inborn quality. It takes tedious amount of time and effort before skilled creatives are able to reach their current skill levels. And it doesn’t stop there because practicing and learning new styles is never ending as the world keep on innovating.
That is why our team is building a mobile application for professional creatives for their daily/weekly or monthly dose of challenges for them to practice/refresh their skills without the stress and pressure.

Through the research, we have learned that users use existing products as a leisure past time. We also learned that since existing creative activity challenges are mostly limited to sketching , we could use this opportunity to add more varieties to the skills to challenge. This could give our product more edge as while users like the existing apps, they would most likely engage more if there are more to chose from. Social interactions and competitiveness also adds motivation to use the app.

Research & Analysis

Design: Concepts & Sketching
We conceptualized the designs using keypoints that we discovered such as appreciation, comparison and time challenges motivates users more in app engagements and that existing apps have users that are creatives on different fields expertise and they would seem to enjoy the app more if they are given choices related what they are doing as they would be able to interact or share the experience with their own circle. We also learned that users spend their time using the app whenever they are free with the mostly intention of practicing their skills leisurely.
First & Second Drafts
1. Choices for solo or challenge mode: Makes it flexible for the user’s current competitiveness.
More choices for output categories: Gives user to explore more skills to enhance/explore.
Timer: Alarm could be set. Minimum of 10 seconds to 1 month.
EXP and level up system: for more motivation and competitiveness
2. Finished outputs now have an option of uploading considering the icon, vector and logo categories which are most likely digital files.
3. An option to display challenge results for comparison.

Design: Review
-
Activity Feed Page is unnoticeable.
Solution: Add a bookmark graphic element to indicate that there is another page to navigate into.
Goal: Increase user engagement through the activity feed where they would be able to see their peers' outputs.
-
Not much to do on the Activity Feed Page.
Solution: Place a challenge button beside peer’s name and level in the Activity Feed Page.
Goal: To boost user's competitiveness while they view other's works resulting to more user versus peer challenge engagements.

Understood the difference of Upload and Take a Photo
Test Insights:
-
Users easily discovered the activity feed page.
-
Users used both challenge buttons in the activity feed page and peers page.
-
Some users find difficulty in logging out. (Can’t find the logout button)
-
Some users found the buttons upload and take a picture confusing.
Hypothesis:
70% of the respondents did not understand the difference of the upload and take a picture buttons and 43% them took time before finding it.

Design: Iteration
-
Indicate the purpose of the buttons clearly with proper labels.
Users will be able to quickly find the button needed to accomplish the task.
-
Lessen the visual clutter.
Simplify the layout of the navigation bar by removing unusable buttons in a certain page.
Ie. The Profile Button on the profile page as it will not be able to do anything there.

Solution & Impact Overview
-
Navigation Menu is simplified by removing inactive button in an active page. (Profile Button in the profile page) These changes could be seen in the Profile Page, My Peers Page, Notification Page and Challenge Status Page.
-
Properly labeled the Upload File and Take a Photo Buttons.
-
Navigation manu is removed in pages where user is asked to choose a mode challenge and type of output. Instead, a cancel button is placed to give user an option to navigate back to profile page.
-
Change the labels of the buttons after submission for a clearer message on what they do.
